I feel like so much has happened since we moved to Virginia. We have explored the area, been on a few weekend trips and have made new friends. We miss everyone back home but are really enjoying our time here. Because a lot has happened, I thought I would just post some pictures of the past couple months.
A few weeks after we got settled in, it was my birthday! It felt a little different without my family being there but Jeff sure took care of me. We had planned on heading into the city but it stormed all day. Instead, we got a taste of home by going to Cafe Rio (I was so excited when I found out there was one nearby) and went to the Dulles Air and Space Museum. It is a Smithsonian museum and is a lot like the one in DC.

This is the view from the top of the museum. Virginia is so green! |
We got to see a neat 3D movie at the museum. Don't mind the weird faces haha. |
In June, Reston hosted the World Police and Firefighter Games. I had no idea that it was such a big deal but it was like the mini Olympics. We had a fun time walking around the town center and seeing all of the athletes. They had this LOVE sign out front because Virginia's saying is, "Virginia is for lovers." I will definitely have to agree!
Because the 4th of July Weekend was a long weekend, we decided to head up to Connecticut to see Morgan and Johnny.
We were so excited to get on the road. Little did we know that the traffic would be insane and it would take us over 8 hours instead of 4 1/2.
It was so fun to be in Connecticut and hang out with our little buddies. I loved riding in the backseat with them.
On our first day there, Morgan and the kids showed us around. We got to hang out at the beach which is right by their house. That night, we went to the park and watched the fireworks for the Fourth of July. It was a pretty great show!
I think Jeff enjoyed the fireworks ;) |
On the Fourth of July, we went into New York City. I thought it would be more crowded but it was not bad at all. It was fun to have Morgan and Johnny to show us around.

We had so much fun in the Lego Store! |
It was great to have our family as our tour guides. |
That night we had our own little firework show. It was fun to see Grant so excited and the boys seemed to enjoy lighting them off.
Thank you Morgan and Johnny for an amazing weekend!!!!!
The weekend after we got back,we decided to explore The Great Falls Park which is only 15 minutes from our home. There were the beautiful Potomac Falls, the ruins of the canal that George Washington built and a town that is now in ruins. It is neat that we are so close to this beautiful park.

In July, Jeff's parents came and stayed with us for a week. We were so excited to have them come and we had a blast! They explored with Virginia with us, we tried lots of new restaurants and took a weekend trip to the Shenandoah Valley. It was wonderful to have family around. We have an extra bedroom if anyone else wants to come and stay. ;)
They took us to an adorable Bed and Breakfast in the Shenandoah Valley. |
Our room was pretty neat too! |
We took the Skyline Drive through the valley and stopped at all the lookouts. It is such a beautiful place!
On our way back to stopped in New Market and explored the battle grounds. It is neat to be living near so much history.
Last weekend we decided to head intoWashington DC for the day. There is a metro a few minutes from our house so we took it into the city and explored.
It was my first time on the metro but Jeff showed me the ropes because he takes it to work everyday. |

This week I was listening to the radio and heard that Andy Grammar was coming to town. I started looking into it and found out that they were handing out free wristbands at the mall on the day of. It is really neat that they put it on for free. It was a fun event and the atmosphere was great!
Well that is an overview of our first couple months in Virginia. We are enjoying it here and are grateful for all of your love and support. We miss and love you all!
